Meet the artist

The questions of identity, who defines us, and the constant power struggles in our lives are explored in the paintings of Louie Komodo—the artistic name of Louis Baptiste. His work examines how a rebellious spirit is reflected in individual portraits, as well as the boundaries and interplay of power dynamics.

Louis Baptiste’s path to painting has unfolded alongside a career in Software Engineering in Silicon Valley and travels across more than twenty countries. Born in Haiti, raised in Miami, and now based between California and New York, he has developed his practice through independent exploration and two years of Architectural & Design studies at Miami Dade College. His paintings use vivid colors, broken lines, and dramatic shifts in scale to examine identity, rebellion, and the power struggles that shape individual lives.
